Gangsta Grass Hoppin'

Shuraba (literally meaning “Fighting Scene”) is Tokyo Jihen’s single from their album, “Adult.” It’s release back in November 2005 marked the debut for for guitarist Ukigumo and keyboardist Izawa Ichiyo, who joined Tokyo Jihen after the departure of previous members Mikio Hirama and HZM (Masayuki Hiizumi).

Shiina Ringo’s vocal prowess aside, this version highlights crisp and sophisticated jazz guitar arrangements (check out the solo from 2:28) which compliments the strong but crafty bass lines (oh yeah, Seiji Kameda is one of my all-time favorite bassists).

Crank this song up anytime for an instant good mood – or look up the tabs as the guitar and bass lines are worth learning.
